Construction
The construction industry is an extremely competitive business. A significant advantage goes to any competitor who can supply workers known to have safe work practices. That's why successful employers — and the unions and employee organizations who represent their workers — are most likely to acknowledge the benefits of implementing a Drug and Alcohol Policy.
The inappropriate use of alcohol and drugs can have serious adverse effects on the safety and well-being of workers on the job site, contractors, and even the public. And it can cost the project manager far too much in terms of downtime, worker morale, shoddy production, liability and costly insurance / WCB payouts.
Few industries are as sensitive to the need to be safe than the construction industry. Workers in noise sensitive positions are now regulated provincially and must have hearing tests at regular intervals. Lung sensitive positions must also have periodic tests to ensure that those with workplace environments high in chemicals or materials such as silicon are tested at regular intervals. Verifications Canada provides these services, allowing the client and its employees to minimize the time spent in these tests and providing professional and efficient one-stop shops. |
